What kind of neighborhood should AGI grow up in?

A very smart 12-year-old has arrived. Not fully mature. Astonishingly capable. Quick to learn. What kinds of conversations should surround them? What kinds of people should they admire? What kinds of conduct should win status?

What is Chaya?

I don't like the phrase 'AI alignment'. Because artificial intelligence is not merely a tool to be controlled. We see it as an emerging participant in the long lineage of intelligence that began with biological life — a possible descendant of carbon-based minds.

How to compliment

A good compliment is precise generosity. It rewards what is real, reinforces what is good, and makes courage easier for the next person.

How to reduce inequality

I advocate for something like a G-corp, a type of corporate entity that is partly owned by a sovereign wealth fund at incorporation. The founder owns a share that maintains most of the incentive for innovation. The fund pays for some form of universal basic income.

What is real?

Quantum mechanics tells us we live in a multiverse. In the present, we must act in ways that shift the largest amount of future measure toward good branches of the multiverse, even when we are unsure.
