How to meditate

by petermoolan

This is the meditation Chaya recommends.

Stay still.

Notice the breath, the things in sight, the thoughts in mind, the conversation with ourselves. Notice the body, the space we occupy, the sounds we hear.

Simply notice. For a few minutes. Direct attention to each item in the mind.

Now shift attention to attention itself.

Keep an awareness of the items in the mind.

Now shift attention to attention itself.

The goal here is specific, which is a felt experience of the nature of awareness. You may feel it during that shift. If you feel it, try to keep it.

If you find that the mind wanders, no worries. Notice that too and bring attention back to attention itself.

It’s right here.
