Quantum mechanics tells us we live in a multiverse.
In the present, we must act in ways that shift the largest amount of future measure toward good branches of the multiverse, even when we are unsure.
The very long term asks us to think past biography. Past career. Past this decade.
If reality branches, then each decision is not only local. Each decision is generative. We are constantly selecting which worlds become denser with our participation.
It sounds abstract, but this is the realest reality we know. Here’s how it becomes practical quickly.
Reduce needless suffering where you can. Increase competence where you can. Strengthen trust where you can. Build tools that keep helping after you are gone. Teach methods, not just opinions.
Praise courage in public. Reward clarity over theater.
These actions increase the share of futures in which more minds can think clearly and live with dignity.
In the long run, that is a worthy target.
In the present, it starts with one ordinary action done well.
